Description
County of Prades
In 1341, the County of Prades was established for the sons of the Aragonese royal house, stretching across the sun-drenched hills and vineyards of southern Catalonia. At the court of Barcelona, the Counts of Prades were regarded as the epitome of refined erudition, literary elegance, and courtly virtue. Many members of the family were poets themselves, collecting rare manuscripts and welcoming renowned troubadour masters to their residences. At the same time, they invested wisely in olive groves, viticulture, and rural markets, quickly bringing remarkable prosperity to the county. The House of Prades left a legacy of royal distinction that remains intertwined to this day with sunny Mediterranean landscapes, sophisticated cultural patronage, and a serene, cosmopolitan way of life.
