Description
Lordship of Albarracín
High above the rocky crags of what is now the Teruel region, the noble Azagra lineage established the magnificent, independent Lordship of Albarracín in the twelfth century. Through exceptional diplomatic skill, the Lords of Albarracín succeeded in maintaining peaceful neutrality between the great kingdoms of Castile and Aragon for more than a century. The city evolved into a dazzling meeting point for scholars, craftsmen, and poets from diverse cultures who collaborated in harmonious exchange. Under the Señores, spectacular palaces, ornate bridges, and admirable irrigation systems were constructed, which still define the cityscape today. The legacy of Albarracín stands as a timeless tribute to tolerance, masterful peacemaking, and the ability to forge enduring prosperity and beauty even upon barren rock.
